One Portal visitor was kind enough to share a little more information about the photo above which captures a view of the French town called Herrlisheim, a cite of conflict during WWII. This photo comes to us from our partner The 12th Armored Division Memorial Museum and is part of our World War Two Collection. "I am an inhabitant of Herrlisheim and I was looking for information on WWII in the village. I was happy to see the incredible amount of information I can find on your site! When I was a student I was lucky and honored to meet some veterans of WWII at the 50th and the 60th anniversaries of the liberation of Herrlisheim. I just would like to correct the name of the street on the photo which is not "rue de la forêt" but it is the junction of the "rue du Général Reibel" (in the foreground just along the cemetery) and the "rue Châteauneuf la forêt" (with the church in the background). The names of these streets are directly linked to the history of the villagers during WWII. Indeed, they were evacuated to the southwest of France in 1940. I wish you and the site all the best." The Archives of the Big Bend The Archives are a department within the Bryan Wildenthal Memorial Library at Sul Ross State University in Alpine. Their services include reference assistance, exhibits, reproduction of photos and print materials, and presentations. The Archives' mission focuses on documenting the history of the Trans-Pecos and Big Bend areas, with special emphasis on Brewster, Jeff Davis, and Presidio counties. Electra Area Newspaper Collection From Wichita County comes the Electra Area Newspaper Collection, serving the city of Electra and its surrounding area with five titles available in The Portal to Texas History, including the Electra Daily News, Electra News, The Electra Star-News, and the Harrold Howler. The Electra Area Newspaper Collection was added to The Portal to Texas History through a partnership with the Electra Public Library. [Portrait of Mail Boy at Texas Company Terminal] Taken on this day in 1912,  this photo show a young mail boy, Percy Underhill, holding a large mail bag at the Texas Co. Terminal.
