Since 2006, The Portal to Texas History at the University of North Texas Libraries has awarded over 460 mini-grants. Rescuing Texas History enables organizations and individuals to provide free online access to their historic collections through The Portal to Texas History. The Portal to Texas History is now accepting applications for its 2025 Rescuing Texas History program. Each award will provide up to $1,000 of digitization services to libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, private partners, and other groups that house historical or cultural heritage materials, as work in kind. All materials will be scanned at UNT Libraries and hosted on The Portal to Texas History. Non-newspaper archival collections will be considered for digitization. The deadline for receipt of applications is August 7, 2025. Over the last sixteen cycles of projects funded through Rescuing Texas History, online researchers have been able to freely access 84,530 historic items, made up of 456,937 individual files, which have to date received over 20 million uses. We want to work with you, so please join us. For more information and to download the application: Rescuing Texas History Mini-Grant |
