Musical Shabbat, Bagels & Brew, Rabbi Ken and More

Coming up...

First, there are a few spots left at our August 28th Shabbat. If you haven’t RSVP’d, definitely do!

On September 4, we have a Shabbat hosted by Stephen and Bonnie Wise. Rabbi Ken will be there with his guitar.  RSVP here.

The next morning, September 5, from 8 to 10am, we have our big Bagels, Bubbles and Brew to welcome Jews here for the film festival. This year we'll have real NY bagels flown in. Thank you to the Goldbergs of Goldmountain Gallery and The Four Seasons Residences for sponsoring this event.

The September 9 cooking class with Jeffrey Kramer is full, but travel plans change, so if you want to come, just let us know and we'll get you on the waitlist.

And then, of course, the High Holidays start September 11. Most of the events will be at the Telluride Science Center this year, though we’ll have a Tot event, Shabbat Shuva, Ask a Rabbi, Tashlich and two hikes at other locations. We’re collecting RSVPs here.

A few thank yous are also in order:

  • Donor Appreciation: Last Thursday, we had a lovely wine and cheese donor appreciation event. Thank you to the Portnoys for hosting, sommelier Lisa Seabree for curating the Israeli wine, Elise Museles for creating the beautiful grazing table, everyone who came, and especially everyone who supports TJC. We hope you’ll consider becoming a donor next year, no matter the size of your gift. Every bit makes a difference.
  • Summer Shabbat: On Friday evening, longtime TJC members Karen and Adam Dubroff hosted their annual summer Shabbat in Ridgway. The weather was beautiful, and it was lovely to have an indoor-outdoor Shabbat.

See below for more info on events, challahs, & wine...

We have a new Birkon (prayer booklet) for Friday evenings! You can download one here. Created by Hillel (but modified by us), it has lots of links to prayers and songs and plenty of explainers.

Interested in hosting Rabbi Ken and his wife Hinda for a dinner or lunch? Let us know!

Looking for round challah? We're shipping some from boutique bakery Talia's Challas in Denver so just let us know if you'd like one (or more) and we'll cover the shipping. They are $16 for a 2-lb challah. Lots of options available, including honey cakes and babka. Deadline for letting me know is August 26.

Kosher wine is available at the Mountain Village Wine Merchant.
