Announcing the 2026 Rescuing Texas History Recipients

The Portal to Texas History is pleased to announce the 2026 Rescuing Texas History awardees.

This year's awardees include libraries, museums, historical societies, state historic sites, community organizations, and private collectors from across Texas. Together, they will preserve and share materials that document military service, education, civic life, religion, arts and culture, local communities, family histories, and the experiences of Texans from every region of the state.

Funded projects include:

World War I, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam-era military records, photographs, and correspondence
Student scrapbooks, memory books, and educational records
Community histories
Records of civic, cultural, and religious organizations
Family collections spanning multiple generations
Radio, railroad, theater, medical, and public art history

These collections help ensure that unique historical materials are preserved and made freely available online for researchers, educators, students, genealogists, and anyone interested in Texas history.

We congratulate all 2026 recipients and thank them for their continued commitment to preserving Texas history.
