Aus-PNG Network: Natural Resource Governance in Papua New Guinea panel discussion 8 August, Sydney

IN-PERSON EVENT

Join us for a unique opportunity to discuss Natural Resource Governance in Papua New Guinea
.

In an area of biodiversity loss and climate change, Papua New Guinea is part of the third largest contiguous rainforest on the planet and a place of breathtaking natural endowment.

In PNG itself, debates continue to rage about the best path to development for its people.

Speakers
The speakers will explore questions such as:
  • How can development be pursued in a way that does not destroy the rich legacy bequeathed to its people?
  • What is the responsibility of state and corporate actors who are planning new projects in PNG?
  • Can Melanesian laws and practices inform approaches to protecting and preserving PNG's natural resource wealth?
The discussion will be followed by a Q&A, moderated by Luke Fletcher, Executive Director of Jubilee Australia.

Presented by the Aus-PNG Network and Jubilee Australia.
