In an area of biodiversity loss and climate change, Papua New Guinea is part of the third largest contiguous rainforest on the planet and a place of breathtaking natural endowment. In PNG itself, debates continue to rage about the best path to development for its people. Speakers Emmanuel Peni, Coordinator, Project Sepik Fleur Ramsay, International Programs Manager, Environmental Defenders' Office Alice Cope, Director and Chief of Operations, Pillar Two The speakers will explore questions such as: How can development be pursued in a way that does not destroy the rich legacy bequeathed to its people? What is the responsibility of state and corporate actors who are planning new projects in PNG? Can Melanesian laws and practices inform approaches to protecting and preserving PNG's natural resource wealth?
