10/7 memorial, Sukkot Shabbat

Dear Friends,

As we celebrate Sukkot, a festival that calls on us to rejoice, we're reminded that joy and sorrow can coexist. This week, as we mark one year since October 7, many of us are feeling both gratitude for community and deep sadness — for all that was lost, and for the wave of antisemitism that continues to grow around the world.

This year's High Holidays were especially meaningful. We were fortunate to welcome Rabbi Ken Aronowitz, whose warmth, voice, and experience added depth to our services. The turnout was wonderful, and many shared how uplifting it felt to pray and reflect together.

Now, as Sukkot arrives, we carry that same sense of community forward — coming together to share meals, celebrate, and, yes, get a little cold. We hope you'll join us this Friday for Shabbat Sukkot on the Mesa (don't worry, we won't be outside too long!).

Today, October 7, from 6:00–7:00 PM, we'll gather at the BRA in Town Park for a short vigil. Even in a busy time, it's important to pause together. Please bring an instrument, a song, or simply your presence. If you'd like, you can share a short story of a hostage or victim so that we may remember them together. To help with the event or learn more, contact Lara Young.

Here's a summary of upcoming events:
