Hello Everyone,

Quite a week. Toronto. La Jolla. Bloomfield. Belgium.

Was it a week of tragedy, or a week of calamity that somehow did not come to pass?

We mourn the brave U.S. servicemen lost in this war:
Capt. Cody A. Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, Sgt. Declan J. Coady, Maj. Jeffrey R. O'Brien, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington, and four others whose names have not yet been released.

The tens of thousands of Iranian protesters imprisoned, tortured, and killed.

At the same time, Hamas expelled from Qatar. Iran's regime shaken. Courage emerging in the streets.

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks observed: "The Greeks gave the world the concept of tragedy. Jews gave it the idea of hope."

Even in the darkest moments, hope is not only possible—it is our responsibility.

That is why Shabbat arrives each week. One day to step back, gather, sing, pray, share a meal, and remember that we remain a people of life and joy.

March 20 —Next week, we hope you will come celebrate with your Telluride community, Cantor Ann Turnoff and her daughter, Cantor Jessica Ferrari. RSVP here.

Then we turn toward Passover:
